Hoppy EASTER!

Happy Easter everyone! Today was such a beautiful day. A little windy but beautiful nonetheless. I started my day off at church this morning, and I must say I would not have wanted to be anywhere else. It was great! I’m so thankful for Resurrection Sunday.

How did you spend your Easter Sunday?

Saturday Shenanigans

I know I have been raving about the weather so much lately, but I just can’t help it. After a brutal winter of snow and cold it’s so good to see sunshine and 70 degree weather here. My fiance and I spent all of our day outdoors because it was just too nice out to stay in! So we took a drive to Liberty State Park in Jersey City (If you are ever in the area I highly recommend you to stop by).

As soon as we got there the sun kissed my face and I must say I loved it. A lot of other people were taking advantage of the nice weather as well. From bike riders and dogs barking to kids playing and sunbathers, this park was the perfect place to go. Did I also mention the panoramic view of New York City? I mean what more could you ask for?

Take A Look Through My Lens- New Brunswick Edition

This weather has been so good lately that I just couldn’t sit in the house and let all this natural sun go to waste! No way! I’m glad today was my off day so I could experience it. Even though there is no bloom on the trees and it’s hardly anything too interesting to snap pictures of in New Brunswick, I made the best of it.

When: April 10, 2014

Where: New Brunswick, New Jersey

image

Had to fuel up with this tasty panini from Taste New Brunswick with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, house made pesto and balsamic vinaigrette. Every bite was insanely delicious!

image

I’m quite obsessed with doors…especially this red one!

image

Parking garage. Thought it was a pretty cool shot.

image

The number 7. Oh, where should I start. First of all it’s my favorite number…EVER! And, my absolute favorite is me and my fiance have been together 7 years and her proposed to me the 7th year. So…I will always have a soft spot for the number 7.

image

Flowers and flags.

image

Chipotle is my favorite! I can eat it everyday…just ask Chris and my friends.

image

Yellow. RUSTIC. Got gas? LOL

image

Finally made it to the park. Here’s New Brunswick Landing.

image

Too bad the docks were closed. It would have been nice to see some boats today!

image

Blooming tree…a true sign that spring is underway!

image

What’s on the other side of the bridge? Only one way to find out.

image

I spy a little house in the city once I make it over, and it’s photo bombed by this yellow school bus. HILARIOUS!

Wonder what’s behind the door?

I like this picture for some odd reason.

Until next time…

"Sunny SUNDAY"

I’ve learned when it’s good weather on the east coast…take advantage of it! So when the exceptional weather came this past weekend I did just that! It was so sunny out that I had to opt for a mini photo shoot. Take a look at some of the shots below.

Photo credits: My handsome fiance, Chris!

What I Wore:

Sunglasses: Nordstrom

Shirt: Thrifted

Skirt: GAP

Clutch: Charlotte Russe

Shoes: Mandee

When: April 6, 2014

Where: Central Jersey

Finally, a little skirt action!

I’m not sure why my foot is like that! Maybe because the sun feels so good!

One can never have too many accessories! I added an oversized clutch and sunglasses, bracelets and of course my perfect engagement ring!

Haha, I don’t think I was quite ready for this shot.

Until next time…

"I’ve been thinking…I’ve been thinking"

It is currently 3:16 am EST, and I have major insomnia. I’m just glad it’s a weekend instead of a weekday….you feel me?

Besides having a pretty good week, I’ve been thinking that life is great! I’m alive, have the best fiance and my career is going in the direction I want it to go!

I mean just yesterday I was working from home on some social media stuff for my internship at Ebony magazine when out of the blue someone calls me from unknown. Now if you are like me you probably are skeptical to answer unknown phone calls…so I didn’t answer. But the unknown caller called again and this time left a voicemail. I checked and it was the Digital Producer from Ryan Seacrest Productions! Yes, you read correct!!!!

I was so appalled because I only sent in my resume about a week and a half ago for the Digital internship at the company. I didn’t hesitate to call back, and basically we had my first phone interview. Before the call ended I had to be sure that the internship was in NYC, unfortunately it was in Los Angeles. My heart was crushed. I was so excited to even think that there would be a chance that I can intern for such an amazing company.

Heartbroken…yes! Defeated…absolutely not! Before we got off the phone he told me if I’m ever in LA we could pick up where we left off and that gives me hope!

So as I’m sitting here thinking about all the job applications that I’ve filled out and still have yet to recieve my big break, I still have faith and I know that once it comes I’m going to seize the opportunity and live out my dreams!

Until next time…

#TBT: My First Internship in NYC

If you would have told me 3 years ago that I would do an internship in NYC, I would have told you ‘NO WAY’! I would have never thought that I would be interning in NYC getting closer and closer to my dream job in the fashion industry….Let’s flashback to 2013.

I just moved from Cincinnati to New Jersey with my boyfriend, Chris (now turned fiance). We were finally getting settled into our apartment in Central Jersey and Chris was settling into his new role at Johnson and Johnson. I, on the other hand, was looking for jobs in Jersey but knew that’s not where I wanted to be. I wanted to be in the Big Apple! Fashion is everything to me, and so I finally decided to start applying for jobs in NYC instead of Jersey.

Of course if you’ve ever searched for a job, you know it’s not a thing that just happen overnight. I applied….and applied….AND applied! Nothing. The only thing that was coming back to my email was ‘You’re not a good fit for the job’ or ‘We went with someone else who fit our requirements more’. After hearing so many ‘no’s’ I started to wonder…’Am I making the right decision?’ It’s my dream so I had to follow it, right??

So, I decided to try another angle…applying to fashion internships. I didn’t have any experience and knew that most internships in the city were unpaid. I applied to a few and got some replies and interviews back for some, but the ones that I really wanted with Hearst Corporation and Conde Nast, were for college credit only. SUCKS!

Finally, I got an email from the PR assistant from Stella McCartney asking me to come in for an interview. I was stoked! I mean a major fashion powerhouse in Lower Manhattan wanted to interview me?? I went in for the interview and was beyond nervous, but I made it through.

Three weeks later…I heard back, and I got the internship!!! It was unbelievable. I learned so much from that internship, and I don’t think I would have such a passion for public relations and fashion if it were not for my first internship at Stella McCartney.

Working late one day, and took a picture of the showroom…so many memories here.

Came across these red lucites organizing the showroom.

These black beauties were my absolute favorites!

Don’t ever be afraid to go after your dreams! With hard work, tenacity and dedication you will be able to do anything.

Until next time…
